Joan Meisel-Gaffney Memorial Art Award
The Joan Meisel-Gaffney Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Art was established in 2010. Nine awards are given out at the Annual Museum Education Exhibition by Charles Gaffney, retired Lead Museum Educator and Art Educator for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. This award was created in memory of his late wife, Joan. Joan had a strong passion for art and art making, and although was never an art teacher, she shared her love of life with her students. Her love of art and prolific creation of art embodies our goal of encouraging al children to be creative throughout their entire lives whether they choose a career in the arts or not. This award also accepts donations of any dollar amount.
